Yes students have natural inclination for language learning as nobody could teach a language to someone but it is the power of LAD...language acquisition device .
ReplyDeleteYes children learn sounds and starts imitating the sound and the phonetic patterns but at times the time duration where the child starts imitating the sound delays which is the cause of worry...and the increasing nuclear families and the interactions the family members have among themselves shrinked as most of them become gadjet addicted, opportunity for the children to hear and imitate cause further delay.

The environment the child grows up and the people around have an influence on the second language / languages towards which he /she will shown more inclination towards. So yes children have a natural natural inclination for learning language and learning through the medium of language.

Let me share a story of a child--- the child's parents are multilingual ---- he learnt to speak in English from a very young age by watching cartoons in television . So, story telling, listening to rhymes, watching TV etc are some factors that children have a natural inclination for learning language. Language can't be taught forcefully, it been learnt at its own span.

AS SOON AS THE CHILD ENTERS THE WORLD, WE SEE HOE FAST HE/SHE BEGINS TO FIRST RESPOND TO THE SOUNDS OF THINGS AROUND HIM/HER. The language they learn first to express themselves is mostly the language they listen mostly at home . So learning the language and learning the medium of language both happens simultaneously when a child feel the urge to express him or herself

ReplyDeleteChildren are attracted to sounds, they listen carefully to the different sounds and are able to figure out the meaning of the words used continuously in their presence. They observe hoe the lips are framed and tongue is rolled to let out different sounds. Basically they are quick to learn when they hear the sounds often. Phonics play an important role in learning of new words and language.

ReplyDeleteYes ,children have the natural inclination for language learning. They always find it easier to learn through their mother tongue and when they learn new language, they try to relate the new language with their mother tongue.
ReplyDeleteChildren learn to communicate easily than adults. Children learn a language by sounds. The ‘morpheme’ as the smallest discrete chunks the words can be broken into. To make sense of the words, the child should know where one word ends and the other word begins- the ‘word boundaries’.

The language immersion is a technique which later becomes a process as the child decodes the words when the words are shown by the teacher- phonemes, phonemic awareness, phonics etc follows; decoding the words as a whole seems to be easier for the child than learning letter by letter. while singing a rhyme/ reading a book/ teaching phonics.
When reading out books for the children becomes a regular practice, the child gains the benefit of learning a new language. Whereas, the child is naturally aware of the mother tongue and can communicate with semantic and apply grammatic rules.
