Think how you will create a TOY AREA in your classroom /school? What are some essential materials and manipulatives that you will keep for helping children to create D-I-Y toys?

  6. My class room TOY AREA look like bright and attractive and hang the children's photograph. I arrange Indigenous toys , learning materials , buzzles, building blocks, puppets, cost materials , waste materials friendly scissors , dolls w, news papers, old clothes,dry leaves Book ,DIY book etc . let them play and enjoy the play with their own creations .As a facilitator I am going to observe the kids and stay there for need and support wherever required.

  7. In teaching learning process if we'll involve more senses ,so learning will be more effective and concept can keep in mind for long time. Toy area creat classroom interesting, children will be excited to play or work with toy and with this type of teaching, teacher can give the technique to use the waste materials and be creative with low cost item.

  9. I will create DIY toy area in a corner of my class keeping in mind that the projector screen is visible from there. I will keep empty rolls ,cookie boxes, plastic bottles, bottle caps, coloured paper,cloth pieces, some beads , ice cream spoons and paper plates there in small cartons. will show them some clips as to what to make in a particular class and then encourage the kids to create something of their choice with the material available there.

  11. We can make toys with beads, shells, and even with the pencil waste which is formed by using sharpner.

The toy area with a special setup corner in the class would be created where handmade toys & props made of cardboard, paper craft, wools, socks, magazine, clay, open-ended & natural materials can be placed. The materials motivate children to be involved in preparing DIY toys and these toys can be integrated in puppetry, role play and dramatization. Different informal and structured talks can be weaved by making use of these toys. The making of joy and hands-on experienced make the learning permanent and interesting.

I would create a Toy area in my class by arranging some craft papers, old notebooks, magazines, jute, rope, socks, cotton, clothes, sponge, ice cream sticks, old bangles etc and make children create different objects like puppets, lantern, decorative items, magazine holders, sometimes by giving instructions by which they will learn and use new vocabulary words and understand instructions and sometimes by showing them a video etc and at times letting them create things on their own.

  18. I will make a toy area at the back of the classroom and keep lot of things like paper, bottles, beads, wooden blocks, cotton, fabrics and encourage the young minds to create their own toys out of the materials provided to them.

DIY area will include few easily available objects like news papers, tooth brush, bindis, colour papers, rubber bands, sponge, sticking material, leaves, paints, threads, straws, cotton, child safe scissor , beads, shells etc. Using these materials art and craft can be made along with puppets for narrating stories.

  21. I would keep a corner where open shelves will be kept and all sorts of toys will be kept in it. The corner will be called, My fun area. Toys will be a mix of both indegenous and others. It will help children develop several skills like FMS, GMS, social, emotional, cognitive,etc

  22. D.I.Y toys to promote literacy- thick board papers from old used books or cartons to be cut and kept
    with letters written on it to facilitate children make words'
    D.I.Y. toys to promote numeracy- twigs/ dry leaves/ coconut shells- making insects/ animals, making letters/ numbers, cut outs of objects to facilitate counting
    D.I.Y. toys for Fantasy play- old bangles/ dolls/ chains/dupattas
    D.I.Y. toys for building area- paper cups/ cut outs of cartons for dominoes
    D.I.Y. toys for manipulative area- pictures of objects may be drawn based on the age level, coloured by the child or even painted. The facilitator can cut and shuffle and gthe child can reassemble the pieces.
    D.I.Y. toys for science area- old powder tin with holes to study the effect of water level and the pressure on it, old newspapers with child safe scissors for cut and play or even generate toys with paper folding.

  23. The Resource Centre in our school is a good DIY toy area, we have a projector and screen, a computer with internet. Students are shown videos and they make toys from waste, an exhibition is organised every year for the best toys. It is great learning experience for kids.

  24. D.I.Y Toys for manipulative arrea- pictures of objects may be drawn based on the age level . Toys will be a mix of both indegenous and others . . It will help children develop several skills like FMS . GMS , Social , emotional , cognitive etc.

Creative Minds Area- The area where toys made by students (DIY) will be placed and also where materials like beads, thread, needle, bottles, boxes, wire, cotton, cloth pieces, socks etc. will be available to students who want to use their creative ideas and make their toys. All students can use them for learning process too.

  32. One corner will be designated as Toy Area. It shall be brightly done up to cheer up the children. there will be a lot of books with large pictures. lot of recyclable items like beads, shells, old newspapers etc will also be kept.

It should have a carpet for the children to sit on, big beads and string, board games, blocks, wooden coins, dolls, kitchen set, vehicles, jigsaw puzzles, old newspapers, origamy paper, old bottles, shells, clothes for different seasons, dolls etc.

  34. depending on the financial status of the institution a play area can be successfully organised -A sand pit ,a small water play area,a clay modeling corner and some easy and light and not expensive manupalatives can complete a play area.

  36. Will spare one of the corners of the class for DIY activities by labelling that corner as MY TOY CORNER. Also will try to decorate that corner with sample resources and catchy tags. Used cello tape rolls/paper rolls, newspapers, old CDs, waste toys, toothpicks, straws, used bottles, matchbox, paper cups, old clothes, jute, straws, shoe box/ cartoons, old invitation cards, socks, clay, beads etc. will be the resources for DIY corner

  39. My Toy Area will have all the basic and discarded materials , the no cost or low cost material which are easily and freely available at our homes. Newspapers, sheets, scissors and fevicol are some of the material that will be kept in the classroom for easy and frequent access to the students.

An area where children can express their creativity, experience and ideas may be created by making available easily available materials like bottle caps,socks pet bottles cans ,spoons,etc which are reusable and child friendly ,food colours for colouring and sufficient shelves for storing materials.Suitable place can be readied to enable the children to display their creations .The place can be made attractive and be named like "Our Creativity Corner"

I will keep empty rolls ,cookie boxes, plastic bottles, bottle caps, CDS, walnut and pista shells, coloured paper, cloth pieces, beads , ice cream spoons and paper plates there in small boxes in the DIY corner of my class.. With the help of videos i will show them what they could make from the materials available.

Toy area with D-I-Y toys requires natural objects from the garden floor, broken toys, beads, clay, old news paper, old clothes, pieces of clothes from tailor shop, water, sand, sieve, can all be used to play inh a toy area. A toy library can be made to create awareness and respect among children .
