Think constructively on the following points: How often do you organise PTMs? What kind of discussions do you generally have with parents? Have you tried to explore how best they can help you and the school to work more effectively? Have you also tried to think about the general concerns of the parents and what could be the solutions from your side and/or from the school? Ponder over these questions with a creative and problem solving mind and share your reflections.

DeleteYes PTM plays an important role in the learning process. Teacher can take valuable points from child parent to understand them better on the other hand parents can also come to know many things about their child from teachers as they spend half of the day with teachers. With the better understanding the teacher and parents can contribute in the child development positively.
DeleteWe conduct PTMs every 2 months and we share the positive points to motivate the child and negative points for the child's betterment.

Every Saturday we call few parents of each class to discuss about the child's progress in every field.
ReplyDeleteBoth teachers and parents play an active and equally important role in a child's holidtic development. The main objective of a PTM meeting, according to me, should be to make that collective effort mutually complementary to each other, instead of supplentary. No one of the two parties can replace or substitute the other. We need to strike that proper balance which can take this collective initiative forward.
ReplyDeleteMonthly to discuss the progress of the child and how can the parents and teacher help to achieve further learning goals.
DeleteFormal PTM's are conducted twice an year, but teachers do meet parents or request parents to meet as and when required. Role of parents is of great importance specially at the foundational stages. This is very much evident in the level of learning where parental support is available and where it is not. Formally setting up a regular interaction space between parents and teachers would be highly beneficial.
Deletewe are conducting PTM after every assessment where we are sharing the strong and weak point of the child.

ReplyDeleteEvery month
ReplyDeletePTM is organised every month. Parents nowadays show interest in the progress of their child. However there are parents who are not able to give much attention to their child because of job hours or lack of knowledge.
ReplyDeleteWe have PTM 5 times in a year to discuss the performance, behavior of the child, and discuss how the child should progress specially with their support. But mostly the parent is either busy in their businesses, jobs as that also takes most of their hours or they are not educated. So during ptm we suggest certain methods which they can use to help their child at home.
ReplyDeleteNormally 6 formal PTM’s are organised in a year. In these PTM’s we discuss about the behaviour, academic performance of the child. Strategies that can help in the improvement are also discussed. Parents are not able to support because of lack of time or inadequate education. In addition to the formal PTM’s many informal meetings are also arranged either one to one or telephonic to discuss about the children.

The main objective of a PTM meeting, according to me, should be to make that collective effort mutually complementary to each other, instead of supplementary. No one of the two parties can replace or substitute the other. We need to strike that proper balance which can take this collective initiative forward and the child gets he benefits.
ReplyDeleteOnce every 3 months

DeleteWe have monthly PTM. Though parents are free to call any day if something is bothering them. In my 21 years in teaching i take pride in it that i have never been rude with any of my students parents, I always try to resolve their issue.
ReplyDeletewe have monthly PTM...Always try to resolve students issue....
ReplyDeleteWe have monthly PTM ...Interaction with parent and student.resolving their issues

ReplyDeleteIn my opinion PTM play a vital role . Parents also get an idea about their Ward's progress in studies as well as their conduct. They should discuss major problems in a general way ( without mentioning child's identity).Schools can create comfortable atmosphere for parents to discuss their problems regarding children and it should be done once in a month.
ReplyDeleteThe main objective of a PTM meeting, according to me, should be to make that collective effort mutually complementary to each other, instead of supplementary. No one of the two parties can replace or substitute the other.
ReplyDeleteWe organize PTM every three months. We discuss all the things related to the child, work as a team with parents for the complete development of the student
ReplyDeleteActive participation of a parent bring tremendous change is the child's progress. PTM is the best powerful tool of communication. Teacher and parent will have a good rapport and understand about the child. The areas of strengths and weaknesses are discussed it's better if parents attend the ptm regularly.
ReplyDeleteWe have 8 to 9PTM s during the session. Both parents and teachers play an important role in the growth of the children. It is the duty of the teacher to tell about the strengths and weaknesses of the children to the parents so that they can help in the growth of the children.
ReplyDeletePTM is organised once a month . it is a great platform for parents and teachers to interact with each other and discuss any problems as well as appreciate the students work with parents .
ReplyDeleteWe organize PTM every three months. But teaches are available to answer queries and discuss concerns over the phone always.
ReplyDeletePTM are great ways to understand the family background of the students. The thoughts of parents can be easily understood by asking the relevant questions. Similarly when the parents find that the teacher has deep interest in the child's progress, they trust and support the teacher and school in any needed. The parents can be made aware of the FLN methods that can be used at home to enhance learning.
ReplyDeleteOn the last day of every month, I conduct PTM in my school. The teachers discuss academic progress of the child and his/her participation in activities. The teachers also show the activities, projects done by the studnts by putting them on display. the parents are also glad to see their child's work. Those who are not able to come are asked to communicate via phone and get the details of his/her ward. The students know that the teachers and parents can not come in contact and hence they fool both but when they see them meeting they become serious and start studying. So if the parents involvement in school increase the pressure on child to work hard and study increases. Parents can become member of PTA (Parent Teacher Association) and can suggest improvements in the academic or co-curricular activities. they can participate in the preparation of academic calendar and counselling of the students, much more.
ReplyDeletePTM are very crucial for school and teacher progress. Its a positive and healthy interaction between parents and teacher. We organize PTM after every exam wherein we convey the child's progress in all areas. In PTM parents are also get to know how teacher is enthusiastically doing her work for her class as well as a subject teacher for other classes too.
ReplyDeleteIn our school we organise PTM's every term. Having said that we meet the parents on a daily basis especially when they come to pick their children. In the PTM’s we discuss about their behavior their milestones and academic performance of the child. Strategies that can help in the improvement are also discussed.
ReplyDeleteTeachers and parents play an active and equally important role in a child's holistic development. The main objective of a PTM meeting, according to me, should be to make that collective effort
by bot the parties and must compliment each other positively. I also think that both parents and teachers cannot replace or substitute the other. We need to stand united and move ahead to this collective initiative forward and ensure that child benefits.

ReplyDeleteWe do use PTMs effectively in school. Apart from discussing the progress of the child, we also talk of how we, the teachers and the parents, have to work together so the the child attains his/her maximum potential.
ReplyDeletePTMs help us to know and work for the child's performance. The child's strengths and weaknesses are identified and it is a valuable opportunity for progress.
ReplyDeleteMonthly
ReplyDeletePTMs should be organized ones in a month regularly. but apart from that we organize meeting with the parents as or when required. We discuss the improvements of the child, where the child is facing difficulty, any sort of disturbed behavior if the child is showing, we want to know the concern of the parents all with a smile and positive manner. We support and respect the parent's opinion and views. We tell them that their support is very much required in the learning process of their wards and we welcome their suggestions.
ReplyDeletePTMs are held once in a month. Discussion regarding child's overall development including his academics as well as Co-curricular Activities, aptitudes, initiatives taken and his personality development, is held. We can certainly collectively encourage him to explore, experiment and experience things of his interest and potential interests by having constant communication with each other. For instance if child is listening to stories at school the parents can play games with them at home regarding creating a fictitious story in which child imagines on his own what happens in that story and how it progresses. In which parent can always ask questions regarding names of characters or objects, their shapes, sizes, colours, numbers, feelings, behaviour etc. to make him learn innumerously. Parents can also give various suggestions or opinions to school for better co-ordination. Parents do have many genuine concerns regarding lack of listening, concentration, interest, participation or confidence of a child. For that various ways are suggested to them, as to use real objects available at home for practicing mathematical concepts, to praise the children a lot in front of others to make him feel worthy and confident, stop making child wrong if he fails to do anything, don't compare two children, try to follow a well laid routine to ensure devoting dedicated quality time to children, try discussing things with children to get their opinions and suggestions too etc. I guess communication and co-ordination between parents and teachers can help both in understanding child's world better, which can work wonders for him.
ReplyDeleteWe conduct parent teacher meeting every fortnight..
ReplyDeletePTM is that time where teachers and parents get opportunities to discuss the performance of the child in class. This is true for students who are performing fairly well whereas those students who need more feedback and support need meetings with parents at frequent intervals.
ReplyDeleteSlotting time roll number wise ensures less waiting time for parents, hence they look forward to the meeting. Keeping a child's notebook and remarks recorded by the teacher throughout the session handy will make individual feedback possible. Presenting the students strengths and weaknesses rather than only complaints makes parents feel that there is scope of improvement and they come forward for putting in efforts. Personal matters should not be discussed when other parents are within hearing distance. Specific strategies and schedules for home reinforcement will equip the parents with tools to address issues at home. Genuine concern for the student from both parents and teachers will lead to a happier capable child.
Every month will be beneficial for both teachers and parents
ReplyDeleteBoth teachers and parents play an active and equally important role in a child's holidtic development. ReplyDeleteWe have 3 terms and every term we have PTM to discuss about the progress of the child. The discussion which we have with the parents is how far, the child has reached and how we can help to take him/her forward with combined effort. Yes, parents can help a lot, as the teacher and the parent have the same goal that is helping the child to be successful and be happy learner. Most parents of the primary section are worried about the eating habits and tiffin of their ward. For which we have a weekly Menu so that every child gets the same thing in the tiffin. Any one parent can help by coming one day in the school and take the class the whole day. They realize what difficulties a teacher is facing in the class and stop complaining. They also give the message to the other parents. There are many ways in which the teacher can involve parents and create an understanding with them.
ReplyDeleteParent Teacher Interaction are very important. It helps them to work as a team for the child's overall development. Both parents and teacher discuss concerns, strengths, and weak areas of the child. The strengths are appreciated and weak areas are agreed to be worked on by both the parties. Parents are helped by the teachers by giving Home Plan, activities, ways to reinforce the topic done in the class.

We get feedback from parents, where their opinions and suggestions are noted and considered. PTM gives the teacher the opportunity to explain how a concept can be approached, What the parents can do to help the children practice these activities. We can identify parents who can do story telling using puppets, and other materials and have a guest session for our students. Presenting the students strengths and weaknesses rather than only complaints makes parents feel that there is scope of improvement and they come forward for putting in efforts. Inviting parents to take a class is a good idea, Group activities can be conducted with the help of volunteer parents.

In addition as a teacher I try to stay as approachable to my students and parents as possible so that I can address their concerns without any delay. Parents usually discuss the weak as well as strong points of their children and request guidance/ counselling for the children in cases requiring special attention.
ReplyDeletePTMs play a vital role in terms of connecting parents or guardians with the school environment. PTMs give opportunity to teachers as well as parents to talk about deeply about a child's growth and improvement . We discuss about ,actually we discover about area of discovery according to child's interest.PTMs should be organised very often for the growth of each and every child and just organisation is not enough it should be made compulsory for the parents to attend. PTM is a major part of the school and its functioning. we have PTM's on quarterly basis ,specially to discuss about the progress & development of the students. it is a great help sometimes ,as parents seek to the solutions to the problems they are facing towards academic or behavioural of their children . As teachers we try to sort out each & every quiery of parents. sometimes they are impressed by our way of making each concept so clear, they also wish to do the same with their children at home. ReplyDeleteparents limitations are considered to a larger extent through popular mandates, role reversal as well as giving them patient hearing. The insight received through parents' concern and fear are used to tactfully facilitate the learner through different tools of learning.
PTM'S ARE A VERY GOOD WAY OF MEETING AND COMMUNICATING WITH PARENTS. REGULAR PTM'S ARE THE PRE REQUISITE OF AN ACTIVE HOME SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP. DURING PTM'S ESPECIALLY DURING THE FOUNDATIONAL STAGE, I AS A TEACHER BELIEVE THAT CHILDREN SHOULD NOT ACCOMPANY THE PARENTS UNLESS REQUIRED. THE TEACHER SHOULD ALWAYS BEGIN THE MEETING WITH A POSITIVE REFLECTION OF THE CHILD. PARENTS SHOULD BE MADE COMFORTABLE DURING THE PTM SO THAT THEY CAN UNHESITATINGLY SHARE THE ISSUES OF THEIR CHILD. THE TEACHER SHOULD CONVERSE IN THE LANGUAGE WHICH MAKES THE PARENTS FEEL AT EASE. PTM'S ALWAYS GIVE A DEEP AND GOOD INSIGHT OF A CHILD AS MANY A TIMES CHILDREN BEHAVE QUITE DIFFERENTLY AT HOME THAN IN A CLASSROOM.

ReplyDeletePTMs are very helpful. usually we have 3 PTMs. At the begining of the year getting to know the learning community teacher, parent, child and home front. The teacher should be able to explain to the parent what kind of help will be required from them in terms of time and getting work done at home. If the student is facing any issues in concentrating the teacher should intervene and be more persistent in her apporach to get parent involved in finding the root cause.

PTMs definitely helps teachers to improve themselves in various aspects so that teachers can satisfy students as well as parents needs and the way students should get improved as parents wished about their child. I would definitely think parents concerns and give solutions as much from my side and our school side. Myself as a teacher always wanted the students to listen and follow teachers words and also wanted the students to share their opinions. Parents should also follow up their child and help them the way the child wants.
ReplyDeleteA formal meeting of the parents and teachers should be organized on regular basis so that child performance and areas of concern can be discussed.
